School Officials in Bamyan Collect Money from Students

RASC News Agency: Reliable sources from Bamyan province report that the administration of a school in the provincial capital is collecting money from students. On Thursday, June 20, sources informed the media that the administration of the boys’ high school in Bamyan’s second district collected 60 kabuli rupees from each of the 7,000 students.

According to these sources, the school officials claimed the funds were for printing ID cards and purchasing brooms, totaling 420,000 kabuli rupees. This is the second time in the academic year that the school’s administration has collected money from the students, the sources added.

Since the Taliban’s takeover, the country’s education system has undergone significant changes. The group has shown little interest in improving educational opportunities for students. Furthermore, the Taliban have converted many schools into religious madrasas, where, according to experts, extremist teachings are imparted to students.
