RASC News Agency: Local sources report that a traffic accident in the Baghlan-e-Markazi district of Baghlan province has resulted in the death of the Taliban’s police chief for the district. Sources indicated on Sunday, June 16, that the incident occurred the previous night in the Pulchak Ghulam Sediq area of Baghlan-e-Markazi, claiming the lives of three of the commander’s men as well.

According to these sources, the accident happened when a Lexus vehicle carrying Akhtar Mohammad Baryali, the Taliban’s police chief in Baghlan-e-Markazi, and his entourage veered off the road and overturned while traveling from the old city to his home. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but the Taliban’s police command in Baghlan has confirmed the incident, stating that it claimed the lives of four individuals, including Akhtar Mohammad Baryali.

Previously, Taliban officials and members in several provinces have been killed or injured in traffic accidents. In a recent case, two senior Taliban commanders, Jamal Naseri and Qari Karimullah, were killed in a traffic accident in the Kalafgan district of Takhar province.

Reckless driving, poor and non-standard roads, non-compliance with traffic rules, and the treacherous nature of some roads are cited as the primary reasons for traffic accidents in the country.
