RASC News Agency: The expulsion of Afghanistani migrants from Iran and Pakistan continues, with the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation reporting the forced return of nearly 4,000 Afghanistani nationals from these two countries. On Wednesday, June 12, the ministry announced that 3,437 migrants were expelled from Iran and 275 from Pakistan.
The ministry’s statement indicated that these returnees entered Afghanistan on June 11 through the border crossings of Islam Qala, Torkham, and Spin Boldak. The expulsion of Afghanistani migrants from Pakistan occurs amidst a significant increase in the deportation of Afghanistani nationals from neighboring countries, particularly Iran and Pakistan, in recent months.
Some attribute the rise in deportations to agreements between the Taliban and these two countries, suggesting that these actions help the Taliban by curbing potential protests abroad. The Taliban also benefit from this process, as the deportation of migrants serves their interests.
Currently, over one million Afghanistanis reside as migrants in Iran and Pakistan, driven to emigrate by numerous factors. The primary reasons include escaping the Taliban’s oppressive rule and widespread unemployment in Afghanistan.
