RASC News Agency: A new school has been constructed in the village of Khork, Argo district, Badakhshan province, funded entirely by local residents. Officials from the Taliban’s Directorate of Education in Badakhshan reported that the school was built at a cost of 1.3 million Afghan rupees.

Abdul Ghani Abedi, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Directorate of Education, stated on Thursday, June 6, that the school occupies 1.5 acres of land and consists of nine classrooms. Abedi added that Khork Middle School previously lacked a proper building, forcing students to study in tents and open spaces.

According to the Directorate of Education in Badakhshan, the school serves approximately 300 students, benefiting residents from four villages. Nusratullah Faizani, the head of the Taliban’s Directorate of Education in Badakhshan, welcomed the local initiative and pledged to further equip the school.

Faizani stated that efforts would be made to provide the necessary equipment and supplies for the school. This development comes as dozens of schools have been constructed with local funds in recent months, with little to no assistance from the Taliban.
