RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s provincial press office in Panjshir Province announced that they have once again sold 2,547 carats of emerald extracted from the mines of this province. According to a press release issued by the Taliban’s provincial press office in Panjshir Province on Tuesday, Mar 12, this amount of emerald has been sold for $95,800.

In this press release, the Taliban stated that the fifteenth round of the Panjshir emerald auction was held with the presence of the committee overseeing the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and heads of local administrations in this province. This comes as, some time ago, the Taliban also sold 6,887 carats of emerald extracted from the mines of Panjshir at a price of $217,250.

As of September 24th of the same year, the extraction and sale of emerald from Panjshir Province by the Taliban were declared legal. According to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, the Taliban group has discovered 1,700 emerald mines in Panjshir and has so far sold nearly 47,000 carats worth over $3.5 million.

It is worth noting that the extraction of the country’s mines by the Taliban has elicited widespread reactions due to the fact that this group has not yet been officially recognized by any country.
