RASC News Agency: Local sources in Balkh province report that unidentified gunmen have killed a doctor and injured his brother, who is also a doctor, in the provincial capital, Mazar-i-Sharif. On Tuesday, May 21, sources told the media that “unidentified gunmen” attacked the vehicle carrying Dr. Yasin and his brother, Dr. Yusuf, in the fourth district of Mazar-i-Sharif the previous night.

According to the sources, the attack resulted in the death of Dr. Yasin, 37, and injuries to his brother, Dr. Yusuf, 40. These two doctors were residents of Chamtal district in Balkh province and owned private clinics. Security officials from the Taliban in Balkh have confirmed the incident, adding that the gunmen were in a taxi when they opened fire on the two brothers.

The Taliban officials did not provide further details on the incident but stated that efforts are underway to investigate and identify the perpetrators of the attack. Despite the Taliban’s claims of nationwide security, incidents of insecurity and criminal activities, particularly targeted and mysterious killings, have been on the rise.
