RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced that two individuals accused of “theft” were publicly flogged in the Muqur district of Ghazni province. According to a statement released by the Taliban’s Supreme Court on Thursday, May 16th, these individuals were punished the previous day in accordance with the verdict of the Muqur district’s primary court in Ghazni.

The statement specified that each individual received 39 lashes and was sentenced to one year of imprisonment. The Taliban’s Supreme Court stated that the flogging was carried out following the approval of the chief justice of the appellate court in Ghazni province.

During their nearly three-year rule, the Taliban have repeatedly carried out public punishments for accused individuals, including five executions.

Human rights organizations have condemned such public executions and corporal punishments, declaring them to be violations of international laws and human dignity. These organizations have called on the Taliban to cease these practices.
