RASC News Agency: Local sources have reported that Taliban officials in Daykundi Province have instructed the elders of the Shia Clerics Council in this province to celebrate Eid on Wednesday. Sources today, Wednesday, Apr 10, have informed RASC News Agency that the Taliban has emphasized to the residents of this province that if they do not celebrate Eid concurrently with them on Wednesday, their well-being will be compromised, and they will be imprisoned if they oppose the decrees of the secretive leaders of this group.
This comes as yesterday, a court affiliated with the Taliban group had declared Thursday as the first day of Eid al-Fitr, and alongside it, the office of Ayatollah Waez Soudi had also announced a similar declaration for Shia clerics in Kabul. Local sources added that yesterday, following the receipt of orders from Taliban leaders in Daykundi Province, the Shia Clerics Council accepted to celebrate Eid simultaneously with this group.
Sources further add that in the past three years, the residents of Daykundi Province, under the command of Hibatullah Akhundzada, the secretive leader of the Taliban group, have commemorated Eid. In some cases, instead of exiling people, they mock and ridicule the people, including Shia clerics and worshippers, under the pretext of ensuring security during Eid prayers.
Previously, a Taliban official in Daykundi Province had branded Shia Muslims as apostates, which sparked widespread reactions. The Taliban, with their control over the country, have stressed that the only official religion of this country is Sunni Hanafi, and other religions must conform to it.
