RASC News Agency: Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the World Muslim League, has recently asserted that the Taliban’s treatment of women is “sectarian,” which, according to him, “has no place in Islam.” These remarks were articulated in an article published on Wednesday, Apr 3, on the EuroNews website, where he added that the Taliban’s actions are eroding the “trust of the Islamic world day by day.”
The religious scholar urged the Taliban to abstain from further isolating themselves “as an extremist group among Islamic nations.” Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa holds the position of Secretary-General of an organization renowned as the largest non-governmental Islamic organization globally. He emphasized that the Taliban’s policies constitute gender apartheid, stating, “This gender apartheid is a severe form of apartheid. What they dismiss as a hostile Western construct has its roots in Islamic teachings and values.”
Al-Issa criticized the Taliban in the article for disregarding the demands of nations and Islamic scholars regarding women’s education and employment. He emphasized, “The Taliban must adhere to general Islamic principles to avoid further isolation as an extremist force within Islamic society.” Referring to a conference held by the World Muslim League in March of this year in Saudi Arabia, attended by hundreds of religious scholars, he remarked that the conference exposed the Taliban’s isolation among Islamic countries.
He further stated, “The disheartening reality revealed by this significant conference was that there is little hope for Taliban engagement with non-Muslim countries. However, they are also rapidly losing the trust of the Islamic world.” In the article, the religious scholar asserted that no one has the right to deprive women of education. He highlighted that the Taliban justify discrimination against women based on Islam, but according to Al-Issa, “These claims have been strongly refuted by prominent Muslim scholars.”
