RASC News Agency: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization has called on the Taliban to fulfill their commitments in combating terrorist groups effectively amidst growing international concerns over the escalation of terrorist activities in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
A statement from Russia’s National Security Council’s press department on Wednesday night, Apr 3, emphasized the serious threat posed by terrorist groups in Afghanistan to member countries of the regional organization. The session, reported by the TASS news agency, held in Astana, Kazakhstan, discussed the situation in Afghanistan under Taliban governance.
The organization’s statement urges the Taliban to fulfill their anti-terrorism commitments, particularly in countering the activities of international terrorist organizations and other groups operating in Afghanistan, which pose a significant threat to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Recent ISIS attacks in Iran and Russia, along with increased Islamic group movements in neighboring countries like Pakistan, have raised concerns among regional leaders and global organizations.
International bodies have reported that the Taliban maintain close ties with terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda, and have established training camps for these groups in Afghanistan.
