RASC News Agency: The World Health Organization has announced that over one thousand and one hundred patients with acute respiratory infections have died in this country in the past three months of the current year. According to the World Health Organization’s report, issued on Monday, Apr 1, it states that from the beginning of January until now, four hundred and seventy thousand cases of acute respiratory infections have been registered in 23 provinces of Afghanistan.

Based on this report, children are more susceptible to this disease, with over two hundred and ninety-eight thousand children under the age of five and approximately fifty percent of the patients being women and girls. The report, referring to the high percentage of children, notes that over ninety-nine percent of the victims of this disease in Afghanistan are children.

The organization states that in 2023, a total of nearly one million and four hundred and twenty-three thousand cases of acute respiratory infections were registered in 34 provinces of Afghanistan, among which two thousand and eight hundred and eighty-nine patients died.

The World Health Organization stated that the current number of cases of this disease is higher than the average reported cases in 2020 and 2022. According to this organization, the increase in statistics indicates improvement in reporting due to the enhancement of surveillance systems and the expansion of protective policies.
