China Donates 60 Scholarships to Kabul University Students

RASC News Agency: Zhaowu Xing, the diplomat at the Chinese Embassy in Kabul, recently announced the donation of 60 scholarships along with cash prizes to students of Kabul University. Mr. Xing conveyed this on Tuesday, March 19th, via a post on the social media platform “X” and added that providing these scholarships would strengthen educational ties between the two countries.

It is worth noting that the Chinese Embassy donated these scholarships and cash prizes on Monday, March 18th, at Kabul University in the presence of Taliban-appointed officials for the university and representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education of this group. The Chinese Ambassador in Kabul stated: “China will continue to provide scholarships to encourage more Afghanistani students to contribute to the country’s development and participate in bilateral friendship.”

While China, like other countries, has not formally recognized the Taliban, it has established relatively good relations with this group during their two-year rule. These scholarships are awarded to Afghanistani students at a time when the Taliban, during their two-year rule, have prevented girls above the sixth grade from attending schools and universities.
