RASC News Agency: Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the interim head of the Ministry of Virtue and Vice of the Taliban group, recently asserted that women’s rights in Afghanistan are upheld under the control of this group, dismissing concerns about the matter as baseless. As reported by Tolo News on Monday, Mar 11, quoting this Taliban official, he made these statements in Maidan Wardak province, emphasizing that if women’s rights are infringed upon, the Taliban group authorities bear responsibility, not other countries.
The interim head of the Ministry of Virtue Vice of the Taliban group declared, “Foreign nations claim, ‘rights, rights, Islam has bestowed rights to our sisters,’ it is my transgression if I do not ensure rights.” These assertions arise from the Minister of Virtue Promotion of the Taliban group at a juncture when, following the group’s assumption of power, women and girls have been stripped of their fundamental rights, with the Taliban steadfast in their exclusion from society.
Previously, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, highlighted that the Taliban had issued over 50 decrees targeting women and girls, subjecting them to suppression based on these decrees. He remarked, “Conflicts and crises are escalating globally, inflicting harmful effects on women and girls.”
The deprivation of education, restricted employment opportunities in both governmental and non-governmental sectors, limited mobility, enforcement of dress codes, and clothing restrictions are among the measures imposed by the Taliban on women and girls.
