RASC News Agency: Quoting local sources from Khost province, in the continuation of targeted and mysterious killings of former military personnel, an ex-police commander has recently been gunned down by unidentified armed individuals in the province.
Sources reported to the media on Saturday, Mar 9, that Nader Jabarkhil, this former military figure, was shot dead by unidentified armed assailants yesterday in the “Lanko” area, the center of Khost province. According to sources, Jabarkhil had served as the security commander of Tani district in the previous government for a period.
It remains unclear who and for what reason this former government military official was targeted, and the Taliban group in Khost province has yet to comment on the matter. Meanwhile, another source informed the media that Jabarkhil’s family had been in enmity with someone for years, and during this time, eight members of this family lost their lives due to this hostility.
This comes as reports indicate that despite declaring general amnesty, the Taliban group has repeatedly resorted to arresting, imprisoning, torturing, and killing former government military personnel after seizing control of the country. In a recent incident last week, a soldier of the former government’s army died due to torture by Taliban members in Nangarhar province. The Taliban remain unaccountable for their violent actions against individuals or institutions.
