RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan has recently asserted that the world has turned a blind eye to the plight of Afghanistani women under Taliban rule. The National Resistance Council raised this issue on Thursday, Mar 7, marking International Women’s Day, by issuing a statement, lamenting that the world has overlooked the “crimes and brutality of the Taliban” against Afghanistani women.
According to the statement: “Unfortunately, despite the harsh current realities and awareness of the Taliban’s nature and its stance towards women, the world has not only failed to take effective action to remove restrictions but has also engaged with and even supported this group.” The council declared its demand for human rights organizations and countries not to forget the people of Afghanistan, especially women, in the “politically convoluted world” and to compel them to acknowledge the tangible realities of Afghanistan instead of endorsing and supporting the Taliban.
Samira Hamidi, an activist of the International Amnesty organization, also remarked on International Women’s Day that the two and a half years of “courage” exhibited by Afghanistani women and girls should be acknowledged as part of the history of the global women’s movement. Hamidi stated in a post on the social media platform X that Afghanistani women and girls bravely confront Taliban oppression both within and outside Afghanistan.
Today, Friday coincides with March 8th, International Women’s Day, celebrated annually worldwide. However, in Afghanistan, this day has arrived amid the Taliban’s deprivation of women and girls’ fundamental rights for the past two and a half years.
