RASC News Agency: According to reports from Pakistani media, in the aftermath of the compulsory expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, at least five thousand Afghan refugees have been deported from the country over the past week. SAMA TV released this statistic on Sunday, Mar 3, citing its own sources, and added that since the onset of the forced expulsion of refugees from Pakistan, more than 503,000 Afghanistani refugees have been deported from the country.
Despite calls from international organizations to cease the process of forcibly expelling Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, the government of this country persists in this endeavor, expelling thousands of refugees for several months now. This occurs as Islamabad had granted Afghanistani refugees lacking documentation until November 1st of the preceding year to depart the country voluntarily.
Following the expiration of the deadline, Pakistani police apprehended and deported undocumented refugees, predominantly Afghanistani refugees. It is noteworthy that subsequent to the Taliban’s resurgence in the country, nearly one million citizens sought refuge in Pakistan due to threats from the group and exacerbated poverty and unemployment.
Information indicates that prior to the commencement of the refugee expulsion process from Pakistan, close to 1.7 million undocumented Afghanistani refugees were residing in the country.
