RASC: The officials of the United Nations Children’s Fund or UNICEF have announced that the poverty rate in Afghanistan has increased
This institution said that the rate of poverty, unemployment and the need for humanitarian aid among Afghanistani citizens is increasing every day.
On Wednesday, August 2, this fund said in its six-month report that the number of people in need of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan has increased from 28.3 million people in January this year to 29.8 million people in May.
Meanwhile, this fund has made public its findings that after the Taliban regained control over the country, the rate of poverty and unemployment among citizens are increasing day by day and citizens are fleeing the country.
Meanwhile, this fund has mentioned in another part of the report that from January to June of this year, it examined about eight million children in terms of acute malnutrition.
This is despite the fact that not long ago, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) also announced the increase in the number of people in need of humanitarian aid in the country and said that this number is increasing every day.
However, before this, the World Food Program also said that more than fifteen million people in Afghanistan will face severe food insecurity by the end of October 2023.
It should be noted that the reason for the increase in poverty and those in need of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group is the recent political developments, decrease in income, increase in prices and unemployment among citizens.
