RASC News Agency: According to reports from Turkish media, security forces in Turkey have recently detained 39 more Afghanistani asylum seekers in the city of Dozceh, continuing the detention of Afghanistani refugees. Turkey’s state news agency, Anadolu, reported on Thursday, Feb 22, that these Afghanistani asylum seekers were detained by security forces in Turkey due to a lack of legal documentation.
The report states that the detained Afghanistani asylum seekers were concealed in a truck among boxes of paper towels and were apprehended by the police after being identified. According to the report, all detained individuals have been transferred to the immigration office, and security forces have also detained the truck driver on charges of human trafficking. This comes as, in recent days, Turkish security forces have intensified the detention of undocumented Afghanistani asylum seekers across the country.
Yesterday, Turkish security forces also announced that they had detained over 100 Afghanistani asylum seekers without legal residency documents in the city of Balikseir after identification. It is worth noting that following the Taliban’s takeover of the country, a large number of Afghanistani citizens have migrated to neighboring and regional countries due to the existing threats, with the aim of reaching European countries.
