RASC News Agency: In conjunction with the escalating stringent measures on girls’ education by the Taliban, recent reports from Kabul province confirm the proactive stance of the Taliban’s propagation of virtue department in their latest intervention in educational institutions. They have mandated officials not to permit the entry of girls who do not adhere to the prescribed hijab into classrooms. Sources from Kabul province disclosed yesterday, January 1st, that pressures concerning the hijab of female students have recently heightened. The Taliban is systematically scrutinizing classrooms through officials from their virtue and vice department.

According to the sources, the Taliban’s propagation of virtue and prevention of Vice officials in Kabul province, through an official decree, have directed school authorities not to allow girls with hijabs lacking dark colors to access classrooms. Sources further reveal that the Taliban’s virtue and vice directive has firmly issued an order, stipulating that girls not complying with the prescribed hijab will be relocated to a designated area and, in certain instances, even to a police station. They will be released with the assurance of their father or brother.

This development coincides with the period since the Taliban assumed control of the country, during which women and girls have endured repeated harassment, detention, and, in numerous cases, abduction, with non-compliance with the mandated hijab serving as a pretext. In the latest episode of oppressive conduct, the Taliban apprehended 20 girls and women from Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul, alleging non-compliance with their mandated hijab, and transferred them to an undisclosed location.
