RASC News Agency: The Taliban group has appointed Ghulam Sarwar Rahmani, who murdered his wife last year on the Kunduz-Takhar highway, describing it as a suspicious incident, as the head of their health department in Takhar province. Sources informed the media on Thursday, February 15th, that Rahmani has not been interrogated by the Taliban, and the group initially assigned him as the enforcer of health regulations, subsequently elevating him to the position of head of the health department in Takhar province.

Meanwhile, a source close to the victim’s family disclosed to the media that due to Ghulam Sarwar Rahmani’s misconduct, she had initiated divorce proceedings, and Rahmani murdered her for this reason. Another source added that a few months ago, Ghulam Sarwar Rahmani was appointed as the head of the Taliban’s health department for Takhar province, yet for unknown reasons, the appointment was not publicized.

This source further indicated that Rahmani was officially introduced to this position on Tuesday, earlier this week, with the backing of Mawlawi Nooruddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s deputy governor in Takhar province. These developments occur amidst the Taliban members’ history of violent behaviors towards women, which are not unprecedented. In the latest incident, a member of this group in Herat province murdered a young girl whom he had forcibly married.
