RASC News Agency: Yousuf Wafa, the governor of the Taliban group in Balkh province, asserted in his recent remarks on Monday, Feb 12, that the group does not acknowledge anyone’s statements for recognition. He delivered these statements during a meeting attended by mosque imams and religious scholars affiliated with the Taliban group in Balkh province. He added that gaining recognition from the people ranks high among the group’s priorities, and they perceive external recognition as unnecessary.
The Taliban group official further stated, “In executing Mullah Hibatullah’s directives, substantial efforts are required, and scholars bear greater responsibility in conveying the populace’s concerns to the authorities and facilitating the execution of orders.” Simultaneously, Yousuf Wafa underscored that the structure of the Taliban group is rooted in the scholarly community, and the obligations of religious scholars uphold the “Islamic system.” The governor of the Taliban group in Balkh province also emphasized the anticipation for religious scholars to counter “malicious propaganda” and enlighten the minds of youth and the broader public.
These statements by the Taliban group governor in Balkh come at a time when, despite over two and a half years of their governance in Afghanistan, no country has endorsed the Taliban group’s administration. Internally, the Taliban group has also faltered in securing popular legitimacy, as reports suggest that over these two years, they have disregarded the populace’s demands and enforced rigid policies on the people.
