Taliban Removes Representative’s Statements from Ministry’s Page Following Apology

RASC News Agency: Following a disrespectful remark made by a Taliban representative regarding the national anthem of Iran, and his subsequent apology, the Taliban’s Ministry of Hajj and Religious affairs has deleted his speech from their X account. In the wake of intense backlash related to the Taliban delegation’s disrespect during the Global Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, and after Abdul Rahman Mansour’s apology and their reappearance at an event in Milad Tower, the Ministry of Hajj has removed the remarks of the group’s deputy from their X page.

Just yesterday, the Ministry published statements attributed to Aziz Rahman Mansour, in which he claimed that the Taliban have implemented “Sharia” in Afghanistan during the Tehran meeting. Those remarks have now been taken down. Aziz Rahman Mansour, the Deputy Minister of Guidance, Hajj, and religious Affairs, who led a delegation to the thirty-eighth “International Conference on Islamic Unity” in Tehran, failed to stand in respect for the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran, necessitating an apology later. He acknowledged his actions as a mistake and expressed regret.

It seems the removal of his speech from the Ministry’s page was a direct response to the heightened public reaction that ensued. Previously, a Taliban representative in Pakistan also faced backlash and criticism from Pakistani officials for failing to stand during that country’s national anthem. Several analysts and observers attribute the Taliban’s actions to a lack of awareness regarding diplomatic norms and protocols. They argue that the Taliban act impulsively, lacking both an understanding of established customs and the willingness to learn.
