RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Public Health within the Taliban group has declared the initiation of four polio vaccination initiatives slated for implementation across Afghanistan in the year 2024. As reported by Afghanistan’s National Radio and Television, under the governance of the Taliban group, quoting Qalandar Abad, the Minister of Public Health for this group, the statement released on Thursday, January 18th, unveiled the formulation of programs by the Taliban’s health ministry aimed at both controlling and preventing childhood polio, actively countering the proliferation of this ailment.

According to the Minister of Public Health within the Taliban group, eight positive cases of childhood polio have been documented within the country over the past two years. The Minister of Public Health in the Taliban group has conveyed that, to effectively manage and prevent childhood polio, dialogues have been conducted with entities such as the World Health Organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and representatives of other prominent institutions.

This development occurs against the backdrop of the Taliban’s assumption of control in the country, during which the health sector, among various others, has encountered a multitude of challenges. Previously, the health ministry within this group expressed apprehensions regarding the registration of positive polio cases. It is imperative to highlight that the poliovirus remains incurable, and Afghanistan and Pakistan stand as the sole two nations globally yet to achieve the eradication of polio, commonly known as childhood paralysis.
