RASC News Agency: On January 18th, local sources in Kabul province reported the killing of a former government army officer by members of the Taliban group. The incident unfolded on the 20-meter road from Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul city. The deceased soldier, identified as Ali Gul Hassani, had recently returned from Iran and was on a visit to his relatives in Kabul. Despite the leader’s proclamation of a general amnesty, the Taliban group, renowned for their vindictive actions toward soldiers of the previous government, perpetuates such acts, contributing to a rising exodus of soldiers fearing for their safety since the Taliban assumed control.

As of now, local Taliban officials in Kabul province have refrained from commenting on this incident. It is crucial to highlight that the Taliban group has been actively engaged in the arrest, imprisonment, torture, and killing of soldiers from the prior government. Executed under various pretexts, these actions lack accountability to any institutions or individuals, raising serious concerns about the safety and security of those associated with the former government.

Following the Taliban’s assumption of power, numerous soldiers from the previous government have opted to depart and seek refuge in neighboring countries. Driven by the apprehension of reprisals from the Taliban, these individuals abandon their homes and families. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the persistent violence and instability in Afghanistan, with the Taliban persistently targeting and harming those linked to the former government.
