RASC News Agency: Hafiz Obaidullah Obaidah, a former suicide bomber apprehended in Kandahar province, has purportedly been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Kabul University, according to credible sources. This revelation came to light on Sunday, January 14th. Notably, Hafiz Obaidullah Obaidah was detained in 2017 in “Aino Maina” of Kandahar province, just moments before he intended to detonate his car bomb.
Anonymous sources further unveiled that Hafiz Obaidullah Obaidah, originally from Helmand province, was taken into custody by national security forces while planning a suicide attack in the town of “Aino Maina” in Kandahar province. These details offer insights into the background of an individual now holding a significant position within Kabul University. The national security forces of the former government transferred the Taliban suicide bomber to Bagram prison from Kandahar province upon his arrest, where he remained incarcerated for approximately four years.
Among the noteworthy figures released from Bagram prison in 2020, after the signing of the Doha Agreement between the United States and the Taliban, was Hafiz Obaidullah Obaidah. Currently, he serves as the financial and administrative assistant at Kabul University. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban group, overseeing Kabul University, has shared images of Obaidullah Obaidah.
It is crucial to highlight that despite the Taliban group’s previous commendation of their suicide bombers, they continue to assert the presence of thousands of individuals ready to act.
