RASC News Agency: The recent confirmation by the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban reveals that 6,000 Afghanistani refugees are currently detained in Pakistani prisons for both minor and serious offenses. Deputy Minister Abdul Rahman Rashid addressed the media on January 3rd, shedding light on the situation and emphasizing ongoing efforts to rescue these individuals. Additionally, the ministry has already taken measures to secure the release and repatriation of 600 Afghanistani immigrants from Pakistani prisons.
In a related development, a lawyer representing Afghanistani immigrants in Karachi, Pakistan, highlighted the unfortunate reality that these refugees have become a source of income for the Pakistani police. This distressing situation has been exacerbated by the intensified forced expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, leading to a surge in their arrests. It is worth mentioning that the Taliban group had previously disclosed that approximately 7,000 Afghanistani immigrants were being held in Iranian prisons. However, they also reported that at least 500 individuals have been released and repatriated to Afghanistan.
Over the past two years, the number of Afghanistani citizens migrating to neighboring countries, such as Iran and Pakistan, has witnessed a significant increase due to various factors. This trend underscores the pressing need for comprehensive solutions to address the root causes of migration and ensure the safety and well-being of Afghanistani refugees. The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban remains committed to its mission of assisting and protecting these vulnerable individuals, as demonstrated by their ongoing efforts to secure the release and repatriation of Afghanistani migrants.
