RASC News Agency: Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban group, responded to the lack of recognition for their group by noting that scholars and the Council for Reconciliation have affirmed the legitimacy of their organization. During an interview on “Space X,” hosted by BBC Pashto service, Mr. Mujahid expressed, “99 percent of Afghanistanis are Muslims and adhere to religious principles. A system recognized as legitimate in Islam is valid for Afghanistanis and Muslims.”
The Taliban spokesperson emphasized, “From a religious standpoint, the Council for Reconciliation plays a pivotal role in establishing an Islamic system, selecting a leader for Muslims that is acceptable to all.” Mujahid elaborated on the leader of their group, asserting, “Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada did not assume the role of Amir through force but accepted this mission out of necessity.” He further stated that upon pledging allegiance to Hibatullah, “all Muslims are duty-bound to pledge allegiance, be it verbally, through actions, or in their hearts.”
Mujahid asserted, “If anyone questions the legitimacy of our leadership, seek a scholar worldwide who would dispute the legitimacy of the Taliban’s Amir. This scholar should remain uninfluenced by external opinions.” After more than two years of the Taliban’s presence in Afghanistan, no country globally has officially recognized this group, notwithstanding negotiations with some nations.
It is crucial to note that the removal of imposed restrictions on women and girls and the establishment of an inclusive government are prerequisites stipulated by the international community for acknowledging this group.
