RASC News Agency: In the province of Oruzgan, local Taliban authorities have reported a recent traffic incident resulting in five fatalities and injuries. Bilal Oruzgani, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s security command in Oruzgan, disclosed in a comprehensive press release that this event unfolded on the morning of Tuesday, December 26th, in the “Sur Kotal” area of the Chenarto district. The official statement from the Taliban elucidates that the collision of two Mazda-type vehicles claimed the lives of three innocent children and left two others with severe injuries.
While the injured individuals have been promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention, the local Taliban officials have maintained a stoic silence, refraining from providing any insights into the causes behind this devastating incident. This occurrence aligns with a distressing pattern, as preceding traffic accidents in various provinces across the country have indiscriminately taken the lives of numerous citizens, including women and children, leaving a trail of injuries in their wake. In a recent poignant case, a traffic incident in the Moman Dara district of Nangarhar province resulted in the irreparable loss of two lives and inflicted injuries on four others.
Experts, delving into the root causes, attribute these recurrent traffic incidents to a combination of factors, encompassing driver recklessness, non-compliance with traffic laws, unwarranted speeding, the intricate topography of certain routes, and their deplorable conditions. Moreover, reports underscore that the enduring repercussions of decades-long conflict between the Taliban group and the erstwhile government’s forces have taken a toll on the infrastructure, leaving roads and highways marred by extensive damage, with some languishing in disrepair to this day.
