RASC News Agency: As reported by the Pakistani media, a meeting occurred in New York between Asim Munir, the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani army, and Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The focal points of their discussion encompassed the current situation in Afghanistan, now under the control of the Taliban, as well as the state of affairs in Indian Kashmir. According to a report published in the Dawn newspaper on Saturday, December 16th, during the meeting, Asim Munir expressed concerns about the situations in Afghanistan and Indian Kashmir. The report also underscored Pakistan’s apprehensions regarding the escalating attacks by militants and their appeal for international support to halt cross-border terrorism originating from Afghanistan.

On Friday, December 15th, the Press Department of the Pakistan Army announced that General Asim Munir and General Nadeem Anjum, the head of Pakistan’s Military Intelligence Organization, had traveled to the United States. It was further mentioned that these two senior Pakistani officials held a meeting with the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, at the Ministry’s headquarters. According to an official statement, these two esteemed Pakistani generals are scheduled to conduct meetings with General Lloyd Austin, the Minister of Defense, and General Charles Q. Brown, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, as per the administration’s announcement.

Recent reports indicate a significant surge in attacks carried out by factions associated with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) against the Pakistani military. During the incident in the past week, a distressing number of 24 soldiers from the Pakistani army lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries due to the assault launched by militants affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan group in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

It is important to highlight that Pakistani authorities consistently assert that the Taliban group in Afghanistan has provided haven to these militants, who subsequently orchestrate attacks on the Pakistani military from across the border. However, the Afghanistan Taliban have consistently refuted these claims.

According to reports, Murtaza Solangi, Pakistan’s Minister of Information, has stated that Afghanistan, under the Taliban’s control, has transformed into a safe haven for terrorist organizations such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
