RASC News Agency: Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the Minister of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice for the Taliban group, has recently issued a directive to all his authorities across the country’s provinces, urging citizens to engage in a three-day “prayer for rain” to mitigate the ongoing drought. In a communication released by the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice for the Taliban group on Monday, December 11th, via the social media platform X, Mohammad Khalid Hanafi has mandated rain-seeking prayers to take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the central hubs and districts of the provinces.

Expanding on the message, the Taliban group, citing the Minister of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, expresses optimism that rainfall will bring an end to the drought and eradicate diseases in Afghanistan. This development coincides with a report from Bakhtar News Agency under the Taliban’s administration, published on Sunday, December 10th, indicating that the meteorological department of this group predicts snow and rain in the provinces of Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Balkh, Baghlan, Parwan, Panjshir, Nuristan, and Salang valleys within the next 48 hours.

It is noteworthy that the water scarcity issue in Afghanistan has resulted in myriad problems and challenges for citizens in various provinces over several years. Reports indicate that, in addition to other provinces, residents in the capital are confronting a severe water shortage. It should be emphasized that the lack of oversight in the drilling of deep wells has led to the indiscriminate use of underground water reserves in Kabul. Consequently, in areas with higher population density and more wells drilled, water sources have depleted.

Two women murdered by their husbands in Kapisa province RASC News Agency: According to local sources in Kapisa province, two women have been reportedly murdered by their husbands within the last 24 hours in the Hese Awal of the Kohistan district. The first incident took place around 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, in the village of Ghafarkhil, situated in the Hese Awal of the Kohistan district in Kapisa province. The victim, identified as Muska, was allegedly shot and killed by her husband, making use of a Kalashnikov weapon. Moreover, local sources have informed about a second incident that occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, in the same village of Ghafarkhil, located in Kapisa's Kohistan district. The incidents, both within the same village, involved a man named Qand Agha, who purportedly killed his wife utilizing a hunting rifle. Family violence has been reported as the motive for both murders, as shared by local sources. It is worth noting that during the two-year period of Taliban rule in Afghanistan, incidents of family violence have witnessed a significant increase, with housewives being the primary victims. Experts attribute this disturbing trend to factors such as poverty, unemployment, mental health issues, and broader societal problems. The tragic and brutal torture and killing of Afghanistani women and girls are not new issues as they belong to a vulnerable group within the community and frequently endure repressive violations in the country. However, women's rights activists and human rights defenders are actively engaged in protesting and advocating for the rights of women nationwide, while two women were brutally killed in a single village within a day.
