RASC News Agency: Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of Hizb-e-Islami in Afghanistan, disclosed that the United States has presented a list to the Taliban, urging them to establish an all-inclusive government in Afghanistan based on the Doha Agreement. During a virtual meeting with his party members in Kabul, Hekmatyar emphasized a shift in the United States’ “tone” and “position” towards Afghanistan. He warned the Taliban that failure to comply with the Doha Agreement conditions would elicit opposition from the nation.
Hekmatyar underscored recent opposition meetings involving Taliban figures in various countries, including Moscow, Dushanbe, and Vienna. He expressed concern over countries allowing and potentially supporting these gatherings, suggesting strategic interests might be at play. In response, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesperson, refuted Hekmatyar’s claims on social media, asserting that the Doha Agreement does not mandate the formation of a comprehensive and inclusive government by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Mujahid stressed the importance of political figures speaking accurately and substantiating their statements with proper documentation. It’s noteworthy that the international community considers the formation of a comprehensive and inclusive government a prerequisite for recognizing the Taliban as a legitimate government—a condition consistently rejected by the group. Nevertheless, opposition figures within the Taliban, like members of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan led by Ahmad Massoud, have recently participated in meetings across Moscow, Dushanbe, and Vienna to discuss challenges and potential solutions in Afghanistan.
