RASC News Agency: According to Reports the Ministry of External Affairs of India has recently affirmed the operational status of the Afghanistan Embassy in New Delhi. Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, brought up this issue during his weekly media briefing on Thursday, December 8th. He emphasized, “The Afghanistan Embassy in New Delhi and consulates in Mumbai and Hyderabad are actively functioning.” The spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs went on to state that the presence of the previous Afghanistan government’s flag at the embassy signifies that the diplomatic situation for Afghanistan remains unchanged. Bagchi articulated, “The flag can indicate whom they represent, and our stance on the status of institutions remains unaltered.”

In a recent development, a deputy minister of foreign affairs for the Taliban confirmed the supervision of the Afghanistan Embassy and consulate in India. Furthermore, the former Afghanistan ambassador to India disclosed that the Indian government actively endorses diplomatic engagement with the Taliban, marking a notable shift in regional diplomacy. According to these reports, the spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs refrained from directly addressing whether these diplomats represent the former government or the Taliban regime. Nevertheless, he clarified that Afghanistani diplomats would persist in providing consular services to Afghanistani citizens.

India has not officially acknowledged the Taliban, yet an Indian delegation operates within their embassy in Kabul. The Indian government had previously declared its oversight, primarily focusing on sending aid to the people of Afghanistan.
