RASC News Agency: In the escalating stringency against Afghanistani migrants in neighboring countries, an Iranian official recently asserted that Afghanistani migrants lack the right to education or access to transportation. Additionally, renting housing to Afghanistani is deemed “offensive,” carrying the risk of potential penalties. Jawad Hashemi Mehr, the political, security, and social deputy governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province in Iran, proclaimed that real estate transaction offices are obliged to abstain from accommodating Afghanistani individuals. He warned that providing housing to Afghanistani would be considered “offensive,” prompting the initiation of legal proceedings.
He further affirmed, “Those who accommodate or employ Afghanistani will face penalties.” On Monday, December 4, Iranian media outlet, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), reported that this Iranian official stressed the necessity of public cooperation in identifying and gathering information about Afghanistani. He lamented the entry of Afghanistani into Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province as a cause for “regret.” He added, “Last year, due to the developments in Afghanistan, the country’s policy was to permit Afghanistani to enter, and unfortunately, they have also entered our province.”
As per this Iranian official, the identification and expulsion of Afghanistani are currently in progress in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, involving the impounding of Afghanistani transportation vehicles for six months. Furthermore, the Iranian official declared that Afghanistani are prohibited from pursuing education, and the Ministry of Education is obligated to expel those who have enrolled illegally, initiating misconduct proceedings against the relevant authorities.
The political, security, and social deputy governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province emphasized that governmental entities such as Faraja, law enforcement, SEMAT, the guilds association, labor office, cooperation, and social welfare are mandated to execute the identification and expulsion of Afghanistani. According to the statements of this Iranian official, upon identification, Afghanistani are relocated to a camp in Fars province and subsequently deported from Iran back to Afghanistan.
