RASC News Agency: The completion and operation of a hydroelectric power generation network in Tagab district, Badakhshan Province, have been reported by local sources. Mohammad Farooq Adeeb, the engineer in charge of the project, announced on Monday, December 4th, that the network, constructed at the personal expense of the local residents, has been successfully completed within a span of four months. The project, located in the “Karastada” area of Tagab district, has been estimated to cost 3,000,000 Kabuli Rupees, the current currency of Afghanistan.
The hydroelectricity production network, overseen by Mr. Adeeb, has a remarkable capacity to generate 125 kilowatts of hydroelectricity. With the successful completion and operation of this project, approximately 1,000 households residing in the area will now have access to electricity. The local residents have expressed their satisfaction with the functioning of this electricity supply network, as they have been grappling with the absence of electricity for numerous years. They are hopeful that this network will finally resolve their long-standing issue.
However, it is important to note that despite this positive development, certain parts of Badakhshan province continue to face a lack of electricity due to inadequate facilities, negligence from authorities, and the economic challenges faced by the local population. Moreover, electricity shortages are not limited to Badakhshan province alone; other provinces in Afghanistan also experience similar problems. The country heavily relies on electricity imports from neighboring nations, and occasional disruptions in the imported supply further exacerbate the difficulties faced by the people.
