RASC News Agency: Sardar Majid Shoja, the commander of Iran’s Khorasan Razavi border guard, announced on Sunday, December 3rd, that over the past five days, 16,000 Afghanistani refugees were apprehended and repatriated through the Taybad border in this province. Emphasizing the necessity for foreign citizens to enter through official and legal channels, he warned of decisive actions for those who fail to comply. This occurs amid an escalated wave of forced deportations of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan and Iran, with thousands returning daily via the borders.
Reports reveal that even Afghanistani asylum seekers possessing valid residency documents were detained by Iranian police and subsequently expelled. IRNA news agency reported that approximately 423,000 Afghanistani refugees illegally present in Iran during the first half of this year were sent back through Khorasan Razavi borders. Similarly, the Pakistani government disclosed that over 402,000 Afghanistani immigrants were arrested and repatriated. However, households expelled from these nations and returning to Afghanistan have lodged complaints about dismal living conditions, urgently seeking help from international institutions.
The migration rate of Afghanistani citizens to neighboring countries, particularly Iran and Pakistan, has surged for various reasons, notably after the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan. Despite the hardships faced by these refugees, adhering to official and legal entry points becomes crucial to evade arrest and deportation. The international community must extend prompt assistance to these households in dire need.
