RASC News Agency: Mullah Abdul Kabir, the political deputy to the head of the Taliban’s administration, has recently called on the UN Secretary-General to relinquish Afghanistan’s permanent representation seat at the United Nations to the Taliban group. The Taliban’s media office reported on Thursday, Feb 7, on the social media platform X, about Mullah Abdul Kabir’s meeting with Raza Otunbayeva, the chief of staff to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Kabul.

During this meeting, Mullah Abdul Kabir asserted that the Taliban have fulfilled all conditions for formal recognition and stressed the necessity of formal acknowledgment of the group. Mullah Abdul Kabir also denounced the sanctions imposed by the international community on Taliban officials as unjust, emphasizing that these restrictions impede the group’s interactions, negotiations, and political engagement with the world.

This situation arises as more than two years have elapsed since the Taliban’s assumption of power in Afghanistan, during which no country in the world has officially recognized the group, and Afghanistan’s permanent representation seat at the United Nations remains unrelinquished to the Taliban.
