RASC News Agency: According to the Afghanistan Electricity Company (DABS), which is controlled by the Taliban group, officials within the company are involved in selling electricity stored in residential houses to factories and commercial centers in exchange for bribes. This information has been sourced from reliable reports and highlights the presence of corruption within the electricity supply company. As a result, there are concerns that the electricity supply to people’s homes may be cut off.
On December 2nd, sources warned the media about the potential cutoff of imported electricity in Uzbekistan. This comes at a time when the winter season is approaching and there is a high demand for electricity. The sources suggest that the cutoff may be due to the combination of increased electricity consumption by citizens during this season and corruption within the electricity supply company. This situation could lead to residential areas being deprived of electricity.
Despite the Taliban group’s claims of combating corruption, reports indicate widespread corruption within the offices under their administration. The fact that officials within the group are involved in selling electricity stored in residential houses to other entities for personal gain contradicts their stated efforts to prevent corruption.
It is worth noting that the Taliban group has not taken significant steps towards achieving electricity self-sufficiency since taking control of the country, relying heavily on imported electricity from neighboring countries. The reduction in electricity supply across different provinces has had a detrimental impact on the livelihoods of many citizens, leading to increased unemployment and poverty within families.
