RASC News Agency: Local Taliban authorities in the provinces of Herat and Ghor have announced that assistance has been distributed to 1,750 affected and needy families in these two provinces. The Herat branch of the Red Crescent, operating under the Taliban’s administration, reported yesterday (November 29) that the Malek Salman Foundation has distributed food items to 1,000 earthquake-affected families in the Kohsan district of Herat. Simultaneously, the Taliban’s governor’s media office in Ghor province also announced yesterday (November 29) that the World Food Programme (WFP) has distributed food items to 750 needy families in the (Lal wa Sarjangal) district of this province.
According to information, the provided items for these families include flour, oil, rice, salt, chickpea lentils, sugar, beans, and nutritious food for children. Recipients expressed satisfaction with the distribution of these aids, adding that due to the increasing unemployment, poverty, and the harsh winter, international relief organizations must increase their assistance to the people of Afghanistan. This comes as international relief organizations, especially the World Food Programme, previously announced the provision of humanitarian aids for needy and disaster-affected families in various provinces of the country.
It is still worth mentioning that Afghanistan, under the control of the Taliban, remains heavily reliant on humanitarian assistance due to ongoing economic, political, and social crises in the country. It is noteworthy that after the Taliban took control of the country, many international relief organizations reduced their activities in Afghanistan due to the inappropriate behavior of Taliban members towards their staff and budget constraints.
