RASC News Agency: Amnesty International has recently expressed its concern regarding the Taliban group’s violation of human rights. In a message posted on X social media on Tuesday, November 28th, Amnesty International highlighted that despite the Taliban’s commitment to protect human rights, they have failed to fulfill this obligation after more than two years of their rule.
One of the fundamental human rights emphasized by Amnesty International is the right to education and work for girls and women. They firmly believe that Afghanistani girls and women should have the opportunity to pursue education, engage in employment, and exercise their freedom of expression. However, the Taliban group has imposed numerous restrictions on the lives of girls and women since taking control of the country. They have deprived them of their right to education, study, work, and even free travel. There are reports suggesting that the Taliban is actively working to dismantle the hard-earned achievements of Afghanistani women over the past two decades.
Currently, under the Taliban’s control in Afghanistan, girls above the sixth grade are prohibited from attending school, and access to higher education is denied to them. Moreover, their employment opportunities in government offices are severely limited, with only the health sector being open to women. Even within this sector, women face significant challenges. It is crucial to underscore that Afghanistani women activists who have been protesting against the Taliban’s restrictions have been met with arrests and suppression of their voices. The Taliban’s actions have silenced these brave women and hindered their fight for their rights.
