RASC News Agency: Local sources from Badakhshan province have divulged the apprehension of 45 individuals affiliated with the Tahrir Party, all of whom are young students of Badakhshan University. This development transpired over the past week at the hands of the Taliban group’s intelligence in the province. Sources conveyed on Tuesday, November 28, to the media that the Taliban intelligence has detained Tahrir Party members, accusing them of colluding with the ISIS group. The ongoing process of their detention in this province continues.

As per sources, two weeks ago, a cohort of 16 individuals associated with the ISIS group was apprehended in Badakhshan province. Notably, among them were members of Tahrir Party, predominantly comprising students from the Sharia College of Badakhshan University. Sources further highlighted that Tahrir Party maintains an active presence in the northern part of the country, particularly in Badakhshan and Takhar provinces. Post the Taliban group’s takeover, they clandestinely carry out their activities. The local authorities of the Taliban group in Badakhshan province have yet to comment on the intelligence-led detention of these 45 Tahrir Party members.

It is noteworthy that the activities of Tahrir Party are prohibited in the country, and previously, the Taliban group detained several individuals in Ghazni province on charges of being affiliated with this group. This development occurs amid claims by Taliban members, since their takeover, asserting that terrorist groups, especially ISIS, do not operate under their control in Afghanistan. Nevertheless, reports indicate a growing presence and activity of these groups in the region.
