RASC News Agency: Following the suicides of young individuals in various provinces across the country, according to local sources in the province of Kandahar, a young man recently took his own life in Haji Zaher village, affiliated with the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province. Sources informed the media on Tuesday, November 28, that this young man, named Abdullah, committed suicide in Haji Zaher village, adding that he was 28 years old, and the precise reason for Abdullah’s suicide is not yet clear. The Taliban group in Kandahar province has not commented on Abdullah’s suicide in the Spin Boldak district.

This occurs as, following the Taliban’s takeover of the country, the suicide rate in some provinces has significantly increased for various reasons, including unemployment and poverty among Afghanistani citizens. In the latest incident, a 40-year-old man had earlier hanged himself on a tree in the Deykundi province, putting an end to his life. It is noteworthy that factors such as family problems and violence, unemployment and poverty, humiliation, derogatory treatment, and mental health issues are believed to contribute to the rise in suicides among citizens.

Moreover, based on information, over two years since the Taliban assumed control of the country, severe and suppressive restrictions on the lives of citizens, especially women and youth, have also contributed to this phenomenon. The lack of educational opportunities, restrictions on movement, and limitations on personal appearance and behavior deemed offensive by Taliban members towards citizens are key factors contributing to the increase of this phenomenon.
