RASC News Agency: In response to the alarming situation concerning Afghanistani asylum seekers being expelled from Pakistan, Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan, recently issued a statement reaffirming the commitment of the United States to provide support to these displaced individuals. On Wednesday, November 22nd, West took to a social media platform to convey this message. He emphasized that the United States stands in solidarity with the Afghanistani refugees who have been forcibly expelled from Pakistan, assuring them that they will receive assistance from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The US Special Representative for Afghanistan further asserted that the recently expelled immigrants from Pakistan are entitled to certain fundamental rights such as immunity, respect, and protection. He emphasized the crucial need to ensure that these individuals have access to the necessary facilities in order to maintain a decent quality of life. Bringing attention to the matter at hand, Mr. West highlighted reports indicating that over a thousand Afghanistani migrants are being deported from Pakistan and sent back to their homeland on a daily basis.
Concurrently, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has persistently urged Pakistan to cease the process of forcibly deporting Afghanistani immigrants. The IOM has consistently called upon the country to halt these deportations, underscoring the potential risks and hazards faced by the migrants upon their return to Afghanistan. The actions taken by Pakistan in this regard have garnered significant attention and criticism on both national and international levels.
Additionally, various international migration institutions and global authorities have voiced their concerns regarding the consequences of this deportation plan and the potential threats faced by the returning migrants. It is crucial to note that the Afghanistani immigrants expelled from Pakistan currently find themselves in a precarious situation in Afghanistan, particularly with the impending winter season approaching.
