RASC News Agency: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has reportedly established a solar power supply system for 15 women’s production workshops in Balkh province, at a cost of almost $225,000. Vahib Al Irani, the provincial official of the UNDP in Balkh province, announced on November 14th that the solar power system was created to increase work opportunities and support women entrepreneurs in the region. He emphasized the significance of small businesses in the economy, which not only promote women’s self-sufficiency but also provide employment opportunities for other women and girls.
Despite the Taliban’s imposition of severe restrictions on the work and activities of Afghanistani women, the women entrepreneurs of Balkh province have expressed their satisfaction with the UNDP’s action and have requested additional support from international relief organizations for the work and activities of Afghanistani women in different provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the Taliban group’s control over the country has put the achievements of Afghanistani girls and women at risk of destruction, as the group attempts to marginalize them from society. Furthermore, within the nation, the Taliban group has implemented multiple decrees that deny educational opportunities for females, preventing them from attending schools and universities.
Despite the heightened restrictions on the work and activities of Afghanistani women, reports suggest that they are still acquiring skills and creating work opportunities for themselves through various means. The UNDP’s establishment of a solar power supply system for women’s production workshops in Balkh province is a positive step towards promoting women’s self-sufficiency and providing employment opportunities for them, as well as for other women and girls in the region.
