RASC News Agency: The National Congress of Afghanistan has recently announced that the majority of the Afghan people support a change in Afghanistan’s political system and endorse a federal republic system. According to a statement released on Sunday, November 12th by the party, based on the findings of a recent survey, the popularity of the Taliban group and the “Presidential Republic” system has decreased by less than 10%. Furthermore, according to the survey, separatist tendencies in Afghanistan have increased, and the party claims that “46% of the population supports division, while approximately 44% support the federal system,” with more supporters of division than the federal system.
According to another statement by the National Congress party, on the date of October 23rd, they launched an online survey called “The Right to Determine Destiny” regarding Afghanistan’s future political system. Participants were asked to choose one of the options: “Islamic Emirate,” “Presidential Republic,” “Federal Republic,” or “Separation.”
The party states that more than 103,000 individuals from over 71 countries participated in the survey, with 81% of respondents being Persian speakers and approximately 7% being Pashto speakers.
The gender breakdown of the respondents consisted of 11% women and 89% men, with the majority falling within the age range of 25 to 35 years. Among the four options of an Islamic Emirate, a Presidential Republic, a Federal Republic, and separation, the Islamic Emirate received the lowest percentage of support. Only 4.2% of respondents stated that they want Afghanistan’s future political system to be an Islamic Emirate, while 5.5% expressed their preference for a Presidential Republic.
The National Congress party, led by Latif Pedram, is one of the few political parties in Afghanistan advocating for federalism. They have repeatedly stated that establishing a federal republic system can resolve Afghanistan’s problems.
