RASC News Agency: In a recent statement, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, emphasized the need for increased international aid to Afghanistan in light of the current situation under the control of the Taliban group. Guterres highlighted this issue in a report released on November 12th, stressing the importance of bilateral and multilateral security cooperation to address the security challenges in Afghanistan. He also emphasized the principle of non-discrimination and the importance of respecting the rights of women, as well as involving them as partners in the country’s development.
Guterres identified several sectors as priorities in his report. These include increasing international aid for Afghanistani citizens, promoting economic dialogue and implementing reforms to overcome obstacles to Afghanistan’s economic reconstruction, and establishing trade routes and connections with other countries. He also called for activities that support the political, economic, cultural, and social rights of Afghanistani citizens. Guterres emphasized that raising awareness about these issues is crucial.
The report also highlighted the significance of bilateral cooperation between the ruling regime in Afghanistan and the international community in addressing concerns related to terrorism, drug trafficking, and smuggling. Guterres once again urged the Taliban group to form an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
He stated that the recognition of the Taliban group is contingent upon their commitment to respecting human rights, protecting minorities, and ensuring that Afghanistan does not pose a threat to the region or the world. Guterres also emphasized the importance of the sanctions imposed on Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group to ensure their adherence to international conventions.
