RASC News Agency: Richard Bennett, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in Afghanistan, recently emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the recent attacks in Dasht Barchi, west of Kabul. In a statement, Bennett stressed the importance of identifying the perpetrators and ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions. The attacks, which occurred within a month, targeted the Hazara community in Afghanistan, making it crucial to address the underlying issues and provide justice for the victims.
On Wednesday, November 8th, Bennett took to social media to express his deep concern over the “terrible” terrorist attacks in the Dasht Barchi area. He highlighted that this was the third attack against the Hazaras in less than a month, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
The attacks resulted in the loss of eight lives and left 38 others injured. The Khorasan branch of ISIS claimed responsibility for the bomb explosion that occurred on Tuesday evening, November 7th, on a passenger bus in Dasht Barchi.
It is important to acknowledge that Dasht Barchi has experienced similar destructive attacks before. Over the past month, the area witnessed two explosions, one of which occurred on October 26th, targeting a sports club and resulting in the tragic deaths of nearly 10 people, with many others sustaining injuries.
The Hazara community, specifically in the Dasht Barchi region, has consistently been singled out by acts of terrorism, leading to the unfortunate loss of numerous innocent lives. These incidents have sparked demands for the recognition of these acts as a genocide against the Hazaras and the urgent need for official acknowledgment of the gravity of the situation.
