RASC News Agency: The expulsion of undocumented Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan has intensified, leading to concerns raised by aid organizations. These organizations have recently highlighted the lack of access to basic necessities such as water, food, proper shelter, and toilets for the deported refugees upon their return to Afghanistan.
The asylum seekers fled Pakistan due to fears of arrest and violent behavior, only to be forced back to their country under the rule of the Taliban group. This issue was brought to the attention of aid organizations on November 5th, emphasizing the dire conditions faced by these individuals.
Tamindri Da Silva, representing the World Vision International Organization, expressed the plight of Afghanistani refugees expelled from Pakistan. Da Silva stated that upon their return, these individuals are left with nothing but the clothes on their backs, as their watches, jewelry, and cash are confiscated at the Pakistan border.
In addition, the director of the Save the Children organization highlighted the educational challenges faced by the expelled asylum seekers. Many of them lack educational qualifications, making it difficult for them to continue learning. While they have learned Urdu and English, they are unfamiliar with Dari and Pashto, further hindering their integration into Afghanistan society.
The situation of the expelled refugees raises concerns about the increase in child labor and participation in trafficking due to poverty. Save the Children, an organization, warns that the returning families, who are among the poorest Afghanistani immigrants in Pakistan, will face heightened economic hardships. Meanwhile, the Taliban group claims to have committees in place to distribute essential supplies such as food, water, and blankets.
They have allocated two billion Kabuli rupees to address the needs of the deported migrants. However, it appears that no practical action has been taken to ensure that the promised aid reaches the refugees, leaving them in a vulnerable position.
It is important to note that Afghanistan, currently under the control of the Taliban, is facing significant challenges. The situation of the expelled refugees adds to the deep-rooted issues the country is grappling with. The lack of access to basic necessities and the difficulties faced by the returning asylum seekers highlight the urgent need for comprehensive support and assistance. The international community must address these concerns and work towards providing sustainable solutions to alleviate the suffering of Afghanistani refugees.
