RASC News Agency: The head of the women’s division of Human Rights Watch recently expressed concern over the forced expulsion of Afghanistani refugees and immigrants without documents from Pakistan. She emphasized that by forcibly deporting Afghanistani women and girls, Pakistan is deporting them back to a place where their right to education and work is denied.
In a message on social media, Heather Barr highlighted that while the world’s attention is focused on the war in Gaza, Pakistan is silently deporting 1.7 million Afghanistani refugees to Afghanistan. Mrs. Barr further pointed out that these deportations are taking place amidst a deep humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
According to Mrs. Barr, Afghanistani immigrants are being compelled to return to their country at a time when it is under the rule of the Taliban group. She stressed that Afghanistani women and girls are systematically deprived of their basic rights, including education, work, and other human rights under the Taliban’s regime.
Mrs. Barr also highlighted that among the migrants being forcibly expelled from Pakistan, there are asylum seekers who sought refuge in the country due to the fear of retaliation by the Taliban group. Despite the Pakistan government’s intensified efforts to apprehend and deport undocumented Afghanistani asylum seekers, citing security and economic problems, Mrs. Barr emphasized that the situation in Afghanistan remains dire under the control of the Taliban, with women and girls being deprived of their most fundamental rights.
It is important to note that in Afghanistan, under the control of the Taliban group, women and girls have been systematically denied their basic rights, including access to education, work, and freedom of movement. Mrs. Bar’s statement draws attention to the fact that Pakistan is forcibly deporting Afghanistani refugees and immigrants, disregarding the dire situation in Afghanistan and the rights of these individuals.
Despite the Pakistan government’s claims of security and economic problems, the forced deportations continue to put Afghanistani women and girls at risk of further rights violations under the Taliban’s rule. The international community should take note of this situation and work towards ensuring the protection of the rights of Afghanistani refugees and immigrants.
