RASC News Agency: According to reports from the media, the ISIS group has claimed responsibility for the explosion that occurred on the evening of October 26th in a sports hall located in the Dasht Barchi area of Kabul. AHMAQ, a media outlet affiliated with ISIS, has stated that the attack was executed by members of the group who deliberately targeted a gathering of Shia individuals. As per ISIS’s claim, the attack resulted in the tragic loss of lives and injuries to 35 people. The explosion happened within the hall during a training session for athletes, and it is estimated that approximately 50 to 70 individuals were practicing at the boxing gym during the evening shift.
In contrast, Khalid Zadran, the spokesperson for the security command of the Taliban group in Kabul province, provided differing information to the media. He announced that two people were killed and seven others were injured in the incident. However, data obtained from three hospitals in the western region of Kabul presents a different picture. The statistics reveal that six people lost their lives, and 11 sustained injuries due to the explosion. Mohammad Ali Jinnah Hospital reported receiving four deceased individuals and two injured, while “Alimi” and “Amiri” private hospitals confirmed receiving two deceased and nine injured patients respectively.
It is essential to note that the ISIS group has previously targeted densely populated Shia locations, including schools, mosques, educational institutions, and public transportation in various provinces within the country, with a recent focus on the western region of Kabul. Moreover, a suicide attack on a Shia mosque in the city of Pul-e-Khumri, the capital of Baghlan province, orchestrated by ISIS, resulted in the tragic loss of nearly a hundred worshippers. These incidents serve as a glaring reminder of the constant and escalating threat that ISIS poses to the Shia community in Afghanistan.
