RASC News Agency: In the wake of the expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Turkey, Turkish media reported on Tuesday, October 23rs, that 64 Afghanistani asylum seekers have been apprehended in the country.
The Turkish police stated that these Afghanistani citizens, along with two others, were detained following a gendarmerie operation in the Bitlis province on charges of human smuggling.
According to the Turkish police, these asylum seekers were arrested on October 21st when the truck they were traveling in was stopped for inspection at a police checkpoint in the central region of the Bitlis province.
Meanwhile, the process of deporting Afghanistani refugees from countries like Turkey, Pakistan, and Iran continues.
It is worth mentioning that the Pakistani government announced a month ago that Afghanistani refugees must leave the country by November 1st of this year.
A Pakistani official had previously stated that, “We no longer want to host Afghanistani citizens.”
According to reports from Pakistani media, about 60,000 Afghanistani refugees have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan either forcibly or voluntarily this year.
On the other hand, Iran, Afghanistan’s neighboring country, has also reported on the ongoing process of expelling Afghanistani refugees from its territory.
This comes as, following the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, a significant number of young people and former government personnel have fled the country and migrated to other countries.
Unemployment, poverty, uncertain future, and fear of the Taliban are among the primary reasons cited for fleeing the country.
